History
In 1981, John Hoffman
launched his horticultural career
by establishing his own company, Landscapes
by Hoffman. Through his landscape
work he discovered the beauty and
practical uses of ornamental and native
grasses. John then traveled the USA
and Europe touring nurseries, parks
and arboretums that were incorporating
ornamental grasses into the landscape.
In 1986, John and his
wife, Jill, purchased 45 acres in
rural Durham County, North Carolina,
and began producing high-quality grass
liners for the wholesale market. Since
then, Hoffman Nursery, Inc. has matured
into a successful horticultural business.
